Talisman Plastics are pleased to announce that we have been able to donate £500 to our chosen charity of 2018 – The Heartlands Cystic Fibrosis Centre.
Our Business Development Manager, James Mulvale, visited the centre at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham, on 14th February, to hand over the cheque to Joanna Whitehouse, one of the ward’s senior consultants.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening genetic disorder that affects mostly the lungs, but also the pancreas, liver, kidneys, and intestine. Long-term issues include difficulty breathing and coughing up mucus as a result of frequent lung infections.
The Heartlands Cystic Fibrosis Centre was established in the early 1970’s, and today it serves more than 360 adult patients from across the West Midlands region. It provides inpatient, outpatient and homecare services to people with CF over 16 years of age.
The centre is a cause particularly close to James’ heart, as it is where his father spent his final days, having been a long-term patient of the centre.
The staff at Talisman Plastics worked hard throughout the year, raising funds for the centre through bake sales, raffles of hampers and football tickets, & corporate events.
With the success of Talisman’s fundraising efforts in 2018, this year Talisman will choose a new charity from our staffs’ suggestions, and we hope to raise even more this year!
